Binaural beats vs isochronic tones
Same beat frequency, same carrier, two different ways of producing it. Play them one after the other — this comparison does not work as a paragraph.
Binaural beats need headphones and feel like a slow sway between the ears; isochronic tones work on any speaker and feel like a distinct pulse. If you cannot wear headphones the choice is made for you. If you can, binaural is the subtler sound and the one most people prefer for long sessions.

The mechanism, briefly
A binaural beat is not present in either channel. The left ear gets 200 Hz, the right gets 210 Hz, and neither signal contains a 10 Hz component — the beat appears only after the two are combined in the auditory brainstem. An isochronic tone is the opposite: the 10 Hz rhythm is physically in the waveform, so a microphone in the room would record it, and a binaural beat it would not.
That is also why “binaural beats through a speaker” is a category error, and why files sold as binaural but mixed down to mono are not what they claim to be.
What about monaural beats?
A monaural beat mixes the two tones together electrically before they reach your ears, so the beat exists in the air like an isochronic tone but sounds smoother — a wobble rather than a pulse. It sits between the two on this page, and it is the sound you get from a stereo binaural file played through a single speaker.
