Everything on this site runs in a browser tab, which is fine at a desk and awkward on a phone at 2 a.m. The app is the version that keeps playing with the screen off.
Brainwave Generator is a free app for iPhone and Android built on the same idea as this site: binaural beats generated in real time rather than played from a recording. It adds the things a browser cannot do on a phone — background playback with the screen off, offline sessions, alarms and haptics.

Which one should you use?
- At a desk, right now: stay here. The web generator has no account, no limit and nothing to install, and it will always be the fastest way to hear something.
- On a phone overnight: the app. A browser tab will stop when the screen locks, which is precisely when a sleep session needs to keep going.
- On a plane, or anywhere without a connection: the app.
- Sharing a specific setting with someone: this site — copy the URL and the beat, carrier, noise and timer travel with it.
The same claims discipline applies
The app is a sound generator, not a medical device, and nothing about it treats or cures anything. The safety notes and the evidence page on this site apply to it exactly as they apply here — including the parts where the honest answer is that the research is thin.

Does it work offline?
Yes. Sound is generated on the device, so once the app is installed it needs no connection.
Will it keep playing when my phone locks?
Yes — that is the main practical reason to use the app rather than this site on a phone.
Do I need the app to use this website?
No. Every player here is free, unlimited and needs no account, now and later.
Which iOS and Android versions are supported?
iOS 13 or newer. On Android, check the Play listing for the current requirement.
