How long should you listen?
Long enough to stop noticing it, short enough that it ends when the task does.
There is no established minimum. In practice: 10–20 minutes for meditation or a reset, 25–50 for a work block, 20 for a nap, and all night for sleep. The common advice to "listen for at least 30 minutes" is convention, not a finding — no study has established a dose.
By what you are doing
| Session | Length | Player |
|---|---|---|
| Reset during a bad day | 5–10 min | Calm session |
| Meditation | 10–20 min | Meditation |
| Nap | 20 min | Power nap |
| Focus block | 25 or 50 min | Focus |
| Study | 50 min | Study |
| Sleep | All night, or 45 min to fall asleep | Sleep |
Is there a maximum?
Not for the sound itself at a sensible volume. The limit is your ears and your head: hours of headphones is uncomfortable, and continuous audio at high volume is a hearing risk regardless of what the audio is. Take the headphones off for a while every hour or so, which is ordinary advice for any listening.
Does it need to be every day?
Nobody knows, because the studies that would answer that have not been done. What is true of habits generally applies: a short session you actually do beats a long one you plan. If you find you cannot sleep or work without it at all, that dependence is worth noticing — see safety.
Questions
How long does it take for binaural beats to work?
People commonly report noticing something within a few minutes, but there is no established onset time because there is no established effect size to measure.
Can I listen all night?
Yes, at a low volume. The sleep player has an eight-hour timer that fades out rather than stopping.
Is 10 minutes enough?
For a reset or a short meditation, yes. Nothing supports the idea that a session has to reach a particular length to count.
